Makeup Artist Oliva Moss

This week Model Daily’s member of the week is Makeup Artist Oliva Moss.

Oliva Moss delightfully disclosed, “When I was 6 years old my grandmother bought me a Bonnie Bell Lip Gloss in Strawberry.  Something magical happened to me when I took the cap off of my lip gloss and smelled the fruity scent.  I believe that at that very moment my journey to my destiny began.  I went on to do makeup for all my friends in high school for dances, senior pictures, and parties and then for weddings.  I did makeup free of charge for years because it wasn't about the money for me.  If I didn't have any bills to take care of…I’d still be doing makeup for free!”

Oliva says the secret to working with other artists is to fully understand what your goals are as this will allow you to determine what fits your aesthetics.  Do your research on everyone you are interested in working with.  Truly, a picture is worth a thousand words so view potential clients’ websites and portfolios.

She goes on to say, “when it comes to models professionalism is the key. Symmetry, height, and size are all important factors when selecting models.  Again do your research.  If you want to work in the fashion industry then your work needs to reflect that, which means the models you select should reflect the fashion industry look.  Ultimately, the models you choose to work with as well as the photographers can make or break your career.”

A final word of advice from Oliva: “If no one is really paying attention to your work chances are the images aren't doing what you intended and you may need to rebuild your portfolio.
